The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing complex accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, and supporting month‑end and year‑end close processes. This role will manage key areas of the general ledger, perform detailed account analysis, assist in the preparation of financial statements, and support operational and financial decision‑making across the organization. The Senior Accountant will work closely with finance leadership and cross‑functional teams to maintain strong financial controls and support continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Financial Accounting
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Perform month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including journal entries and accruals. Prepare and review account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies. Conduct detailed account analysis to support financial accuracy and transparency. Financial Reporting & Analysis
Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Perform financial analysis to support management decision‑making. Identify accounting issues, provide recommendations, and support process improvements. Fixed Assets & Depreciation
Maintain the fixed asset ledger, ensuring proper capitalization and disposal processes. Calculate and record depreciation in accordance with company policy and accounting standards. Cost Accounting
Provide analysis and guidelines for project job costing and Work In Process (“WIP”). Support cost accounting activities including inventory valuation, standard cost updates, and variance analysis. Collaborate with operations teams to ensure accurate costing of products and projects. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
Support AP and AR processes, including review of transactions for accuracy and proper coding. Assist with resolving invoice or payment discrepancies as needed. Compliance & Controls
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Support internal and external audits by providing schedules, documentation, and explanations. Additional Responsibilities
Participate in process optimization and automation initiatives. Support special projects, financial modeling, and ad‑hoc reporting as required. ESOP experience is a plus; may assist with ESOP accounting and reporting activities. Qualifications
Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Minimum 5 years of accounting experience (general ledger experience required). Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting functions including accruals, account analysis, fixed assets, cost accounting, AP/AR, and financial reporting. Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines. Preferred ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) accounting experience. Experience in a manufacturing, construction, or project‑based environment. Seniority Level
