Within the department, the Contact Center Team Leader provides leadership and direction to internal teams who support customer resources. The ideal candidate must have strong customer service, supervisory, and decision‑making skills. They must display professionalism in a fast‑paced environment and are considered the subject matter expert for all payroll research and problem resolution.In Publix's corporate offices, we value in‑person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. This position is an in‑person role located at our corporate headquarters in Lakeland, FL.

What you’ll do

Provide direction to the payroll contact center

Analyze and recommend strategies for contact center metrics

Maintain knowledge of payroll processes, policies, and system enhancements

Assist other supervisors with development, training, and coaching; as well as other special projects and duties

Handle payroll for the associates in the department

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree in a business related field or equivalent experience

At least two years of experience in an analytical position

Knowledge of corporate strategy map

Knowledge of payroll and payroll related policies including Paid Time Off (PTO)

Knowledge of professional communication style

Knowledge of operations/infrastructure

Knowledge of CQI (continuous quality improvement) methodology and tactics to include WIN (work improvement now) and QIP (quality improvement project)

Ability to react quickly and in a calm, professional manner when in situations affecting one or more associates’ pay

Analytical skills

Customer service skills

Knowledge of supervisory leadership skills

Ability to display professionalism

Strong decision‑making skills

Ability to multi‑task and prioritize a large volume of work

Ability to demonstrate a high level of maturity and tact

Interpersonal communication skills

Basic skills in time keeping systems including: DART, Kronos, Time Off Request (TOR) system, TPass, MSS

Intermediate skills in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Access)

Intermediate skills in SAP, Oasis, FETCH, PASSport

Willingness to work flexible hours to meet business needs

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance or Accounting

Four or more years of payroll experience in an analytical position

Supervisory knowledge

Knowledge of Avaya phone system and the reports within the phone system

Knowledge of the different pay classifications and how pay is calculated

Knowledge of Publix Minor Restrictions

Knowledge of individual state and federal Department of Labor (DOL) laws as it pertains to minors and Wage and Hour Division (WHD) requirement for associates’ edited time

Knowledge of Power of Attorney

Knowledge of Managers Reference Library (MRL) or similar policy documentation

Intermediate knowledge of time keeping systems including: DART, Krono, Time Off Request (TOR) system, TPass, MSS

Advanced knowledge of SAP, Oasis, FETCH, PASSport

Year End Bonus To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
