POSITION DETAILS
The City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for the position of Human Resources Coordinator at the CUNY School of Law. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Coordinator provides high-quality professional support across all HR functions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong customer service skills while supporting administrators, faculty, staff, students, and vendors. The Coordinator will help ensure the accurate interpretation and application of college, university, state, and federal employment policies, procedures, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Serving as the first point of contact for general HR and payroll inquiries and providing timely, courteous assistance.
Communicating HR policies, procedures, deadlines, and organizational updates.
Assisting with planning and coordinating HR trainings, employee engagement activities, and related programs.
Preparing offer letters, new hire packets, and supporting hiring managers throughout the onboarding process.
Scheduling new hire orientations and monitoring completion of all onboarding documentation.
Coordinating onboarding and offboarding logistics in partnership with IT, Payroll, and other campus departments.
Managing the HR Director’s calendar and supporting meeting coordination.
Maintaining and updating employee records in both physical and digital formats.
Assisting with payroll operations by collecting, verifying, and tracking timesheets and leave reports.
Monitoring completion of mandatory compliance trainings.
Supporting the performance evaluation process by tracking submissions and preparing required documentation.
Managing the HR department’s email inbox and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff as needed.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of HR experience in an office environment.
Excellent organizational, communication (oral, written and electronic) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented office that requires accuracy, customer service and a high degree of professionalism at all times.
Must be able to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality while paying keen attention to detail.
Proficiency with Office 365 (including Excel, Teams and OneDrive).
Experience using PeopleSoft.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Provides information and services to the College community to support the Human Resources function.
Prepares and executes various personnel transactions involving employee recordkeeping, processing of new hires, pay administration, and recruiting.
Maintains an understanding of policies, procedures, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements relevant to human resources.
Organizes and processes employee information; develops and maintains reports and queries; assures data accuracy and completeness.
Responds to requests for information; troubleshoots issues, follows up and responds to employee inquiries.
Assists HR managers with employee communications of all kinds; may prepare materials, conduct orientation sessions, or update web pages.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Compensation and Benefits $68,668–$74,754 annually. Salary commensurate with education and experience. CUNY’s benefits include health and wellness plans, retirement and pension benefits, tuition waivers for graduate study, and generous paid time off.
