Opportunity We’re seeking a
Control Systems Technician
to support the installation, startup, commissioning, and maintenance of industrial control systems at customer sites. This hands‑on, field‑based role is ideal for early‑career technicians looking to grow skills in automation, controls, and system integration while working alongside experienced engineers and project teams.
What You’ll Do
Support installation, startup, and commissioning of control systems
Perform instrument wiring, loop checks, calibrations, and panel work
Troubleshoot and repair PLC, HMI, and control system components
Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and onsite testing
Read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
Follow Thermo’s Quality Management System (QMS) and safety standards
Accurately document work performed and communicate issues proactively
Provide professional, customer‑focused support at client sites
Education and Experience
Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
0–3 years of industry or hands‑on technical experience
Technical Skills
Basic PLC and HMI exposure or strong interest in learning
Hands‑on electrical and mechanical aptitude
Comfortable using tools such as multimeters and diagnostic equipment
Soft Skills
Strong communication and willingness to learn
Team‑oriented, dependable, and safety‑focused
Requirements
Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.
Fit for duty at all times
Proof of eligibility to work in the country where the position is located
Maintain a valid driver’s license
Travel and On‑Call Travel required:
This role will require the CST to be onsite in Montgomery, AL.
On call:
On call rotation participation may be required based on location and client needs.
