The Opportunity We’re seeking a Lead Control Systems Technician to support and lead field execution for control system installations, startup, commissioning, and maintenance at customer sites. This is a hands‑on, field‑based role for experienced technicians who are comfortable working independently, supporting testing activities, and serving as a trusted technical resource on projects.
You’ll partner closely with engineers, project teams, and customers while continuing to deepen your technical skillset in automation, controls, and system integration.
What You’ll Do
Support and execute installation, startup, and commissioning of control systems
Perform and lead instrument wiring, loop checks, calibrations, and panel work
Troubleshoot and repair PLC, HMI, and control system components in the field
Lead and perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and onsite testing
Read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
Follow Thermo’s Quality Management System (QMS) and safety standards
Accurately document work performed and communicate issues proactively
Provide professional, customer‑focused technical support at client sites
Seek opportunities for additional training, certifications, and skill development
Education/Experience
Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
2–5+ years of industry or hands‑on control systems experience
2+ years as a Control Systems Technician or equivalent role
Technical Skills
Proficiency with PLC and HMI startup and troubleshooting
Strong hands‑on electrical and mechanical aptitude
Experience with instruments, panels, and field devices
Comfortable using multimeters, signal generators, and diagnostic tools
Soft Skills
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
Able to work independently and take personal responsibility
Team‑oriented, dependable, and safety‑focused
Requirements
Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.
Fit for duty at all times
Travel Required This position will start in New Albany, OH and then relocate to Beaver Dam, WI.
On Call On‑call rotation participation may be required based on location and client needs.
Work Authorization / Other Requirements
Proof of eligibility to work in the country where the position is located is required
Maintain a valid driver’s license
