Network Infrastructure Technician Introduction Black Box Network Services, the global leader in communication system integration, is looking for a Network Infrastructure Technician with a proven track record covering structured cabling, optical and copper cabling installations, testing, and decommissioning. The candidate must be motivated, self‑driven, and able to work at the highest level of quality.

Position Details

Hourly position based upon experience & skill level

Monday through Saturday, 6pm – 2am

Location: Customer site - 1990 N. Stemmons Frwy, Dallas, TX 75207

Client Addendum to be followed, copy provided at offer

Key Responsibilities

Install, test, and certify structured and patch panel cabling in a data center environment.

Install single and multi‑mode optical cabling, inspect and clean installed optical cabling.

Install copper cable to IEEE and BICSI cabling standards.

Test installed cables using a Fluke Versiv Mainframe.

Decommission obsolete networking cabling infrastructure.

Work with elevated and under‑floor cabling trays.

Assist in troubleshooting network equipment and cabling.

Patch cabling between network equipment and customer’s network.

Install power cables from equipment to power supply in rack/cabinet/closet.

Install, troubleshoot and remove network equipment (cables, switches, routers, etc.).

Complete all hard and complex Move, Add, Change (MAC) requests within defined service levels.

Provide infrastructure cabling break‑fix services.

Perform layer 1 troubleshooting.

Support carrier testing of circuits.

Assist with facilities efforts, power/UPS restoral, water problems, emergency cooling restoration, fire suppression events.

Act as interface between associates at the location and central project/operations/MAC management.

Requirements

Appropriate equipment training with high‑speed fiber optic transport.

Ability to clean high‑speed single and multi‑mode optical connections.

Ability to measure, transmit and receive on high‑speed optics.

Knowledge and experience working safely with high‑speed single‑mode long‑range optical lasers.

Experience with Fluke Versiv Mainframe.

Experience working in data centers and communications closets.

Ability to safely lift heavy objects (up to 50–100 lbs).

Understanding of cable patching processes and procedures.

Proven success troubleshooting layer 1 network concerns.

Willingness to work shift work including nights and weekends.

Experience and Education

2–5 years relevant experience, preferably at least 1 year in a data center environment.

In‑depth knowledge of structured cabling.

Knowledge of IEEE and BICSI cabling standards.

Physical Requirements Heavy work: may frequently exert force equivalent to lifting up to approximately 50 pounds and/or occasionally up to 100 pounds. Vision, near, mid‑range, far acuity, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment, color vision, hearing, motor coordination, etc. required.
