Job Overview
Sands Anderson is seeking a Trusts & Estates Attorney to join our team in Richmond. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on estate planning, trust administration, and related matters. They will work closely with clients to develop strategies for managing their assets and ensuring their estate plans align with their wishes and legal requirements. This is a great opportunity for a junior attorney to step into a well‑run, sophisticated and robust Trusts & Estates team. In this role, you will be introduced to long‑standing firm clients and assist more senior attorneys meet client needs and deadlines. No book of business is required for this position.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in the state of Virginia
4+ years of experience in trusts and estates law
Strong knowledge of estate planning, trust administration, and tax laws
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
Willing to be part of firm succession planning initiatives
Responsibilities
Counsel clients on estate planning strategies, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
Assist with trust administration, probate proceedings, and estate litigation
Review and draft legal documents such as wills, trust agreements, and advance directives
Conduct legal research and stay current on laws and regulations related to trusts and estates
Represent clients in court and other legal proceedings as needed
Provide personalized and strategic legal advice to help clients achieve their estate planning goals
