Responsibilities
Greet and register new plasma donors into the donor management computer system
Conduct screening procedures: taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and arm checks
Perform finger sticks to test donors for hematocrit and total protein testing using screening equipment; monitor the electronic donor questionnaire system
Determine donor eligibility by performing donor eligibility assessments, including medical history interview, physical examination, educating donor on donor testing, HIV/AIDS virus, donation risks, informed consent, confidential self-exclusion, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) testing as necessary
Provide counseling to donors regarding unacceptable test results
Initiate and assist in donor investigations regarding post donation information
Evaluate and attend to donor adverse events during the donation process
Follow all standard operating procedures for all medical emergencies, communicate with the Center Medical Director, and coordinate donor transport to emergency medical care facilities
Learn and maintain thorough familiarity and compliance with all state and federal regulations, Standard Operating Procedure Manual, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal company procedures
Maintain an open line of communication with management
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with donors, fellow employees, and vendors
Accept performance feedback in a professional manner
Show regular attendance and arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and mandatory meetings
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum one (1) year work experience preferred
Actively licensed or certified in the state where performing duties: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, or Paramedic, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required
Requirements
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to read and interpret directions and instructions
Perform basic math calculations
Basic computer skills
Reasoning ability to identify, interpret and apply appropriate information
