The Opportunity The Strategic Procurement Advisor (SPA) builds and drives strategic relationships with client procurement teams, especially the CPO, to position EY for competitive and sole‑source revenue‑generating opportunities and account expansion. By influencing client procurement teams, the SPA supports the Global Client Services Partner (GCSP), Client Executive, and other leaders to understand client procurement organizations, bridge communication gaps, and close new business opportunities.
Your Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with P&CE leaders, GCSPs and account managers to prioritize accounts where SPA services can drive revenue and improve profitability through client procurement relationships.
Lead efforts with account teams to develop and execute negotiation strategies and activities necessary to achieve revenue growth with new and existing client accounts.
Provide strategic guidance to GCSPs and account managers before and during negotiations, advising on Master Services Agreements, Rate Cards, Preferred Provider Programs, Supplier‑Enabled Innovation, and other related terms.
Assess coaching needs, develop and execute training approaches, and conduct business meetings to develop partners and engagement leads on key negotiation talents.
Direct internal training sessions/workshops for diverse audiences within P&CE, Sector, and Service Lines on topics such as negotiation preparation, coaching on client discussion, contractual terms, and opportunity identification.
Oversee and collaborate with account teams to guide EY’s responses to RFPs, leveraging intelligence from client procurement channels.
Partner with account teams to sustain and expand client procurement relationships, building onsite relationships with senior client executives and understanding decision‑making processes.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate client procurement needs into strategic procurement strategies and advise on best practices.
Act as the primary point of contact for client procurement organizations, building strong, long‑term partnerships.
Lead negotiations with client procurement teams to secure favorable terms, pricing, and conditions while maintaining trust and collaboration.
Monitor and measure the success of procurement strategies, gathering feedback and continuously improving the approach.
Stay informed about industry regulations, compliance requirements, and ethical procurement practices.
What We Look For
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and business development with a proven track record of successful client engagement.
Exceptional negotiation skills and experience leading high‑stakes negotiations with client procurement teams.
In‑depth knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and client relationship management.
Strong communication skills, able to convey complex information to diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Customer‑focused mindset with commitment to exceeding client expectations.
Commitment to ethical procurement practices and sustainability initiatives.
Experience in consulting or advisory roles, with a record of influencing C‑suite decision makers.
Experience leading and managing high‑performance teams in a large, complex global organization.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPSM, or similar) are preferred.
Other Requirements
Travel to client locations as needed, plus occasional after‑hours obligations and virtual team leadership.
