POSITION SUMMARY The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising labor management and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities.
Duties include labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower management, hiring and training, performance appraisal, and issue resolution.
The Supervisor works under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager to ensure receiving, warehousing and shipping of products meet service and cost objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan, and assure continuous improvement.
Inform senior management and client representatives of critical issues affecting operations.
Develop and implement systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner; manage productivity and service goals; comply with client operating agreements.
Implement and report on cost‑saving measures and propose ideas for more efficient operations.
Meet client KPI’s and comply with quality system requirements.
Manage operations to achieve objectives; apply sound communication and motivational techniques; supervise, counsel, and discipline team members; support HR and participate in performance evaluations.
Oversee training and evaluation of warehouse staff; plan daily schedules; review work orders and arrival notices; assign duties to staff; review job trends and reorganize space or staffing levels.
Train new staff or delegate training responsibilities; assess trainee progress and add duties as appropriate.
Monitor quantity and quality of jobs; provide guidance and advice.
Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members; keep manager advised of progress or problems.
Hold regular meetings with staff to assess group status; discuss improvement ideas; keep staff informed of new developments.
Assist in physical operations as needed; deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time; maintain high motivation and focus on customer satisfaction; provide growth and development opportunities; conduct annual performance reviews; support adherence to SOPs.
SKILLS & ABILITIES Education & Experience
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
3 years’ experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment
1 year experience in a supervisory role
Preferred: Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
Forklift training program – satisfactory completion
Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
RF scanners
WMS functions
Language Skills
English (reading, writing, verbal)
Business communication
Mathematical Skills
Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities of product, count inventory, or perform other duties associated with handling, storing and distributing client products
