Materials Manager | Allendale, MI

Salary Range:

$85,000 - $125,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize holding costs.

Oversee all procurement and sourcing activities for raw materials, components, and MRO items.

Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.

Lead demand planning and forecasting processes to ensure accurate material availability for production schedules.

Optimize material flow, storage, and logistics within the manufacturing facility to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of materials data within the ERP/MRP system.

Implement cost reduction initiatives related to materials, logistics, and inventory management.

Recommended Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years' progressive experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain roles within a manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and advanced inventory management methodologies.

Proven leadership and team management skills, with a track record of driving process optimization.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills for supplier relations and internal stakeholder management.

In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory systems.

Bonus Qualifications

Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.

APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.

Experience with advanced planning systems (APS) or robust Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
