Summary of Position The Shift Leader assists the Assistant Manager and General Manager with management activities and duties, ensuring all activities align with and support the restaurant’s business plan. The Shift Leader ensures all team members perform their job responsibilities and meet all expectations in every area of their role.
Essential Duties
Take necessary action to ensure outstanding hospitality service, anticipating and exceeding guest needs.
Effectively “path” the restaurant to monitor all operational aspects, anticipating problems and correcting them immediately.
Consistently enforce and maintain all quality, service, and cleanliness standards.
Monitor and maintain proper staffing levels and labor costs.
Create a friendly atmosphere for team members and guests.
Effectively train, direct, and supervise team members.
Support efforts to maximize sales and profits while minimizing controllable costs.
Plan, organize, and implement all operational routines and activities during your shift.
Maintain a cooperative, harmonious relationship with management and fellow team members.
Ensure all sanitation, safety and security policies and procedures are observed and enforced.
Maintain personal appearance that meets company standards and displays professionalism at all times.
Recognize and adhere to all HR, sanitation, safety and security policies and procedures to provide a safe and compliant environment for all.
Perform other tasks as directed by management.
Physical Requirements
Stand for long periods of time.
Work around high temperatures.
Work around others in close quarters.
Able to lift 50 pounds comfortably.
Work with various cleaning products.
Experience
Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including opening and closing shifts.
Must have reliable transportation and a method of communication with the restaurant (e.g., phone or e‑mail).
Competencies
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to maintain the respect of your team.
Guest‑driven focus.
Ability to make decisions under pressure while delegating tasks appropriately.
