Job Overview Commercial Manager leadership role at a large‑scale composting facility responsible for managing a portfolio of existing customer partnerships and soliciting new customers. Leads and oversees offsite grinding and service operations including commercial organics pick up and product sales. Responsible for balancing revenue as well as driving services, ensuring safety, product quality, efficiency, and productivity.

Manages current and develops new portfolio of commercial and municipal customer partnerships managing bids, pricing, delivery and follow-up.
Manages competitive bids by staying up to date with market conditions, trends and competitor activity.
Accountable for business performance of onsite depackaging services, as well as collaboration with management team on customer sourcing and depackager operation.
Responsible for development of cable/hook truck organics collection services.
Collaborates with management team on business performance and operations of offsite wood grinding, yard waste, composting operations, and screening services. Inclusive of hauling, subcontractor hiring, end‑product sales/dispositioning, and new site or operation negotiations.
Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets.
As a member of the management team, collaborates to formulate revenue and expense budgets as well as capital expenditures.
Reviews monthly and quarterly reports and takes corrective actions to ensure revenues and expenditures are within budgetary goals.
As a member of the management team, collaborates to optimize the operation, maintenance, and purchase decisions of a large fleet of capital equipment.
Promotes Dakota Prairie Composting products and services as well as the SMSC vision and role in environmental stewardship through tradeshow presence, speaking engagements, and participation in professional organization’s.
Works with Director and leadership team ensuring all areas are adequately staffed during fluctuating seasonal business levels and initiate adjustments as needed.
Collaborates with Marketing to generate sales, accelerate the brand, and attract more customers for products and services.
Administers policies and procedures. Ensures regulatory, compliance, and safety standards are followed, trained, and monitored.
Interviews, selects, hires, and promotes employees, including training, development, performance management, and supervisory actions as needed.
Leads, mentors, coaches, and provides guidance, support, and motivation to their staff.
Job Requirements
5+ years of experience in Commercial Sales Management in business to business or industrial services.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business or Related Field (preferred).
2+ years of indirect or 1 year of direct leadership experience.
Customer relationship development and management experience.
Knowledge and understanding of industrial composting and the value of using compost as a finished product (preferred).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent with communication, engagement, and follow through.
