Position Title: Trades Lead Instructor
Agency: Tidewater Community College
Location: Portsmouth, VA
Pay Range: $60,000 – $70,000 (commensurate with qualifications)
Work Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday

Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality instruction and program leadership, ensuring curriculum integrity and safety standards.
Maintain and order lab equipment and supplies, support Workforce Solutions instructors and staff in creating a quality teaching/learning environment.
Deliver lab, lecture, and live work instruction to students in programs that prepare them for the building and construction trades workforce.
Engage employers and credential partners to facilitate industry connections and student employment opportunities.
Assist with grant‑funded program initiatives as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge of industry‑related safety topics, tools, equipment, and practices.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and customer service orientation.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to teach, facilitate skill development, and assess learner performance with appropriate feedback.
Experience creating and managing learning outcomes and maintaining accurate educational records.
Prior teaching or training experience in a workplace or community/technical college setting.
Professional certification or pertinent occupational experience preferred.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
May assist the agency or state government in emergency situations as declared by the Governor.
