Accounting Manager – Construction
We are seeking an experienced
Accounting Manager
with a strong background in the construction industry to oversee financial operations and ensure accurate, timely reporting.
Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and month-end close.
Manage job cost accounting, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, percentage-of-completion, and cost forecasting.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and construction-specific accounting standards.
Collaborate with project managers to analyze job profitability, cost variances, and billing.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
Coordinate audits, tax filings, and interactions with external CPAs and financial partners.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Continuously improve accounting processes and systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with construction industry experience required.
Prior experience in an Accounting Manager or similar leadership role.
Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, retainage, change orders, and progress billing.
Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Jonas, Spectrum, or similar).
Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
