LPN Lead – GLPP Family Practice (UPMC)
GLPP Family Practice is seeking a dedicated and experienced LPN Lead to guide delivery of patient care. This part‑time day‑shift position (Monday‑Friday, no holidays, evenings or weekends) combines hands‑on clinical responsibilities with leadership duties, including staffing coordination, mentoring LPNs and MAs, and supporting the Diabetes clinic flow team.
Responsibilities
Train and mentor LPNs and MAs. Ensure proper staffing of the clinic at all times. Assign physicians and clinic staff to exam rooms/pods each day. Order clinical supplies. Represent concerns and issues of clinic flow staff. Collaborate with the clinical manager to resolve clinic issues. Provide input for LPN/MA performance review and conduct review with the clinical coordinator. Provide input for hiring decisions. Assess patient's general condition, take vital signs, and weight. Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments. Administer medications (oral, SQ, IM) under RN direction. Perform phlebotomy and endocrine testing as ordered. Document all activities/interventions in the medical record. Promote wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician instructions. Comply with regulatory agencies (OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality of medical records and data. Qualifications
Graduate of an approved LPN nursing school. Minimum of 3 years clinical experience. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability. Must be able to perform all duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse in the unit. In‑depth knowledge of department and system‑wide policies and procedures. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
CPR (AHA standards, done within 30 days of hire). New York SCR Application (due within first week of hire). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) credential. NYS Staff Exclusion List (NYSEL). NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse (NYSCR). UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer – Disability/Veteran.
