We are currently seeking a
CEI Inspector
to join our Jacksonville office.
What You’ll Do The successful candidate will serve as an Inspector on state and local projects within the Greater Jacksonville area and various local jurisdictions. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Project Administrator.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Documentation: Monitor daily work and maintain detailed records of construction activities.
Testing: Oversee and occasionally conduct necessary field tests.
Project Management: Coordinate construction progress to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Public Impact: Manage activities to ensure minimal disruption to the public.
Detailed Responsibilities
Read contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, and regulatory agency manuals.
Review project activities with contractor’s field supervision to resolve disputes and other project issues.
Perform work under the general supervision of the Senior Inspector or Project Administrator/Project Engineer.
Read and interpret construction contract language.
Possess current material testing certifications applicable for earthwork, asphalt, concrete, pile driving, drilled shafts, etc.
Material testing and documentation of acceptance. Coordinate verification testing.
Perform density and asphalt tests; sample and verify certification of materials.
Inspect and document contractor’s quality of work.
Track quality assurance progress.
Monitor on‑site construction activities; prepare daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by contractor and track quantities of completed work.
Perform field inspection of contractors’ operations to confirm compliance with contract documents; prepare inspection reports.
Prepare Daily Reports and submit to Senior Inspector on a weekly basis.
Maintain detailed accurate records of daily operations and significant events.
Prepare sketches and assemble data for Senior Inspector or Project Administrator to utilize when making changes to the project.
Participate in the development of job safety practices and observe general job safety practices.
Monitor and inspect the Work Zone Traffic Control (in accordance with the client’s requirements).
Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports.
Perform such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
What You’ll Bring
High school graduate or equivalent.
The ability to earn the required qualifications and certifications within one year. (Note: Engineer Intern classification requires an EI certificate.)
Two (2) years of experience in construction inspection.
One (1) year of Ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year, as required by job assignments to include:
CTQP Final Estimates Level I
CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
Required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign, lighting, and traffic signal structure foundations.
IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
FDOT Intermediate MOT
Nuclear Radiation Safety
Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors FDOT Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control
Good understanding of construction specifications and plans, with ability to read, interpret and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Knowledge of FDOT specification and standards.
Ability to effectively lead a team of inspectors.
Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing), and have excellent analytical, technical and communication skills.
Ability to work weekends, nights, and swing shifts if required on assigned projects.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Demonstrated proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat.
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
