Design Engineer | Allendale, MI Salary Range: $74,000 - $113,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Allendale seeking Design Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and products for manufacturing.

Create detailed 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models, including Bills of Material (BOMs).

Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize production.

Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for cost-effectiveness and performance.

Develop and test prototypes, analyze results, and iterate on designs based on feedback.

Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to ensure seamless design implementation.

Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate design integrity and functionality.

Recommended Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD) for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.

Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, GD&T, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

Knowledge of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal) and material properties.

Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of designs.

Bonus Qualifications

Experience with advanced simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD).

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.

Hands-on prototyping, testing, or fabrication experience.

Proficiency in scripting or automation for design tasks (e.g., Python for CAD).
