Workforce Skilled Trades-Marine Electrical Adjunct Instructor
Paul D. Camp Community College – Suffolk, Virginia. Part‑time adjunct instructor teaching non‑credit marine electrical courses. The instructor works up to 29 hours per week, delivering classroom and laboratory instruction, and occasionally hybrid sessions.
Job Description Skilled Trades Instructors deliver instruction, support, assessment, and mentorship to non‑credit community college learners. The position requires developing lesson plans, assessing student performance, providing feedback, and promoting higher‑order thinking. Instructors are expected to participate in the college mission and community, attend meetings and events, and assist with special assignments such as emergency duties if requested by the state.
Responsibilities
Deliver high‑quality instruction in marine electrical skills to non‑credit learners.
Develop lesson plans and materials that meet industry and state standards.
Assess learner performance, provide feedback, and align outcomes with course objectives.
Participate in the college mission and community, attending meetings and events as required.
Assist with special assignments, including emergency duties if requested by the state or agency.
Qualifications
Professional certification or equivalent experience in marine electrical work.
Knowledge of industry safety topics, tools, equipment, practices, and processes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer‑service orientation.
Computer proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to teach, facilitate skill development, assess learning, and promote higher‑order thinking.
Capacity to adapt instruction to state requirements, local needs, and national trends.
Additional Considerations
Prior teaching or training experience in a workplace or community/technical college setting.
Professional certification or certificate, if applicable.
