- This position is for a Mechanical Engineer within the Engine Installation and Cooling team supporting Large Mining Trucks and Off-Highway Trucks.
- This position applies general job duties listed above to a design scope which includes a high level of integration of various components and subsystems of engine and cooling installations (e.g., air intake lines, cooling module structures, exhaust components, fuel lines, etc.).
- The type of component-level design in scope includes tube and hose routings, simple and complex fabricated steel structures, component mounting systems and non-metallic components.
- The engineering disciplines applicable include fluid mechanics, kinematics, machine design, strength of materials, structural fatigue, and heat transfer.
Typical task breakdown
Upon receipt of project, determine scope and necessary actions.
Perform Creo 3D modeling and change notification process.
Collaborate with other system teams for space claim as needed.
Collaborate with operations to “Go, See, Act” for factory related issues.
Review field history and implement lessons learned.
Coordinate updates to drawings and engineering notices.
Work with cross-functional teams to schedule production implementation.
Interaction with team - Based in Decatur, IL with a local on-site team of 5-6 with interaction of extended team members in Arizona and India.
- Collaboration with other system teams (Electrical, Light Structures, etc.) and the Large Mining Truck Product Group.
- Collaborate with operations from factory assemblers and operations, quality engineers, and manufacturing engineers.
- Collaborate with suppliers to understand process limitations and improvements.
Team Structure - Work director may be located between Decatur and Tucson.
- Team is split between Tucson, AZ and Decatur, IL.
Work environment Primarily office and factory environments with potential visits to suppliers and Proving Ground facility as necessary.
Education & Experience Required Years of experience:
0-2 years experience.
Degree requirement:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required.
