Position Overview The U.S. Payroll Operations Supervisor leads the day-to-day coordination and execution of employee payroll operations in partnership with the company's managed services providers. This role supervises a team of Payroll Operations and Employee Services Specialists and any required temporary labor to ensure payrolls are delivered accurately, completely, and on time. The Payroll Operations Supervisor also serves as the primary escalation point for payroll-related issues and acts as the day-to-day liaison with managed service providers.
Key Accountabilities Payroll Operations & Vendor Management
Supervise a team of four Payroll Operations professionals, along with any temporary staff, including work allocation, training, and incident resolution
Manage day‑to‑day vendor relationships with managed services providers (ADP and Ceridian) to ensure accurate, complete, and timely payroll delivery
Serve as the primary liaison between Payroll and HR Operational Services, Benefits, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, and Finance
Provide Tier 2 support and act as the escalation point for payroll issues not resolved by Payroll Operations or Employee Services Specialists
Leadership & Team Development
Coach, develop, and mentor Payroll Operations and Employee Services Specialists to build team capability and capacity
Review and approve payroll‑related transactions while maintaining proper segregation of duties and strong internal controls
Support staffing needs by overseeing onboarding and coordination of temporary payroll resources as required
Compliance, Controls & Process Improvement
Ensure compliance with audit requirements, SOX controls, and internal documentation standards
Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll documentation and explanations
Analyze ServiceNow and ADP CRM tickets to identify trends and recommend process improvements or policy updates
Assist with testing payroll and time system functionality, including validation of policies and procedures
Prepare, maintain, and update Payroll Operations procedures and documentation
Quarter‑End & Year‑End Payroll Activities
Lead quarterly and year‑end payroll processes, including:
Payroll analysis, balancing, and corrective entries
Off‑cycle payrolls (fleet, cross‑border, perquisites, and relocation)
W‑2 reconciliation and W‑2c processing
Qualifications, Education & Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of multi‑state, multi‑entity, high‑volume payroll processing experience (7,000+ employees)
3+ years of payroll team leadership or supervisory experience
Preferred
Experience with ADP GlobalView, Ceridian Dayforce, and SuccessFactors
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
