Equipment Mechanic B28 (CIP Construction)
Position Summary: Inspect vehicles and make minor repairs to small and medium powered equipment; provide warehouse supplies to field crews; maintain warehouse supply records and perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours of vocational training in mechanical equipment or repair.
Two (2) years of experience performing minor and major equipment repair.
Additional Requirements
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
Operations, services and activities of a full service equipment maintenance and repair program
Operational characteristics of various equipment and tools used in the overhaul, repair and adjustment of gas and diesel powered equipment
Procedures of preventive maintenance related to automotive, heavy and light construction equipment
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices necessary in the area of work assigned
Operations, services and activities of a full service warehouse
Principles and procedures of record keeping
Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation
Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations
Principles and practices of inventory control
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Independently perform the most difficult equipment mechanic work
Operate a variety of mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Accurately determine mechanical repair needs and estimate the cost and time of repairs
Maintain a variety of shop and repair records
Maintain and distribute warehouse supplies according to established guidelines
Communicate clearly and concisely
Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
