GIS Analyst II, or III – TPP Division – Austin, TX
TxDOT’s Transportation Planning and Programming (TPP) Division is hiring a GIS Analyst to support roadway inventory, data maintenance, and geospatial product development in Austin, TX.
Responsibilities
Develop, integrate, and analyze geographic information using the ESRI ArcGIS suite.
Create and maintain ArcGIS Online feature services, web mapping applications, and cartographic products.
Review and update geographic data from state agencies, aerial imagery, existing maps, and databases.
Maintain the roadway network with linear referencing and attribute links.
Research new tools and techniques to improve GIS performance and processes.
Represent TxDOT at meetings, forums, and technical workshops.
Document procedures, project plans, metadata, and standards in a project wiki and SOPs.
Assist in building custom tools and applications using Python, JavaScript, CSS, SQL, and other coding languages.
Qualifications – GIS Analyst II
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, or related field.
Experience: 1 year of ESRI product use in cartographic production, GIS, or GPS analysis.
Licenses: Valid driver’s license (state vehicle required).
Preferred: Experience with HTML/JavaScript/CSS, Python, and linear referencing.
Qualifications – GIS Analyst III
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, or related field.
Experience: 2 years of ESRI product use in cartographic production, GIS, or GPS analysis.
Licenses: Valid driver’s license (state vehicle required).
Preferred: Advanced proficiency in HTML/JavaScript/CSS, Python, linear referencing, and project leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced programming and scripting skills in Python, JavaScript, and SQL.
Linear referencing expertise and experience in roadway network maintenance.
Experience with FME, Oracle databases, and GIS service administration.
Competencies
Cartography, coordinate systems, and map projections.
GIS/GPS concepts and fundamentals.
Computer programming techniques and languages.
Data analysis, organization, and presentation.
Effective communication and teamwork.
Physical Requirements Subject to environmental conditions; sedentary work; lift up to 20 lbs; light finger and typing tasks; hearing and vision meet normal standards.
