Job Description Role Summary
The University of Missouri Controller's office is seeking a qualified Senior Accounting & Reporting Analyst to join the Controller's Office. This is not your typical day-to-day accounting role. The Controller's Office is responsible for safeguarding the financial integrity of the organization. It oversees accounting operating, financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory standards. You'll take part in System-wide initiatives, have oversight responsibilities, and be involved high-impact financial projects. We’re looking for someone who is not only technically strong in accounting but also a driven professional looking for growth. Someone who can learn quickly, lead confidently, and collaborate effectively across departments. This position will have exposure to the University’s external auditors and Accounting Directors at each Campus, and have opportunities to collaborate with Associate Controller and Controller on impactful projects.

Have deep understanding of the relationships between financial statements
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support complex accounting projects, including implementation of new standards and process improvements
Provide technical accounting guidance and research on GASB related issues
Develop and document accounting policies and procedures
Analyze and interpret financial data to support strategic decision‑making
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance
Assist in the monitoring and reporting of the University’s balance sheet accounts, which may include investments, capital assets, debt, leases, receivables, and accrued liabilities
Assist in soft‑quarterly close and year‑end close of the University consolidated financial statements and preparation of the annual financial report
Mentor peers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri System.
Shift Monday - Friday, 8-5pm
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working for or with external audit firms
A bachelor's degree in accounting
Master's Degree
Certified Public Accountant
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Proficient with Microsoft products
Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Office Connect and/or Peoplesoft
Experience interpreting Governmental Accounting Standards
Anticipated Hiring Range Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
