Data Center IT Technician
TEKsystems is looking for a Data Center IT Technician to support its IT department’s datacenter team. This full‑time, onsite role is based in Mount Pleasant, WI, with contract‑to‑hire status.
Responsibilities
Prepare, stage, set up, start up, and shut down hardware such as racks, hard drives, and switches following checklists and standard protocols.
Perform post‑execution quality checks, ensuring grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling meet safety protocols and deployment standards.
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues, identify root causes, and replace faulty components.
Decommission IT hardware for upgrades or refreshes following procedures with minimal guidance.
Communicate, report, and f i l e out incidents to the datacenter technician lead.
Move, inspect, install, and cable servers and switches per provided wire maps, ensuring all cables are bundled neatly.
Assist network administrators with server‑related issues, such as cable re‑routing or optics replacement.
Deploy and configure GPUs and other server components, update firmware, and configure IP addresses and default credentials.
Audit servers, consumables, and order replacement parts, shipping defective parts back to vendors.
Support network admin on configuration and troubleshooting tasks as required.
Temporarily rack, stack, and cable servers or switches for remote configuration by network admins.
Qualifications
High‑school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Flexibility to work non‑standard business hours, including weekends and/or holidays.
Previous datacenter experience is a plus.
CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, etc.) desirable.
