Shifts

A side Days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday 6a – 6p

A side Nights: Same days as above except 6p – 6a

B side Days: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other Wednesday 6a – 6p

B side Nights: Same as above except 6p – 6a

Job Brief: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician to join our IT team. The Data Center Technician will be responsible for the break-fix of GPUs, servers, network, and cabling, as well as ticket management (ITSM).

Responsibilities

Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation.

Inspect servers and switches for damage.

Install servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps.

Bundle and organize cables according to standards.

Collaborate with network admins to confirm cabling and connectivity.

Install additional components (NIC, drive, memory).

Assist in unboxing and prepping servers.

Audit servers and consumables.

Troubleshoot servers and isolate issues.

Order replacement parts and install; return defective parts to vendors.

Update server firmware.

Configure IP addresses and default login credentials.

Support network admins with cable, port, and optical issues.

Temporarily rack and stack servers or switches for remote configuration.

Deploy and configure GPUs in servers.

Perform break-fix tasks, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.

Provide advanced troubleshooting support and resolve tickets.

Act as liaison between team members and management.

Prioritize and manage workload across the team.

Review build documentation before projects and validate any questions.

Direct build activities related to data center operations.

Ensure projects align with data center standards.

Lead and manage teams effectively.

Handle multiple simultaneous projects and meet deadlines.

Ensure compliance with safety measures and data center standards.

Land fully populated GPU or network racks, including movement, baying, leveling, grounding, hot‑air containment, and overhead cable containment trays.

Interpret BOMs to ensure all materials are accounted for.

Install, test, and label copper and fiber infrastructures.

Handle and install optical modules such as SFPs and QSFP connectors.

Scope and clean fibers (SC, LC, MPO).

Patch fiber and copper cables.

Travel as required.

Work with DC power and DC powered equipment.

Document progress using tracking mechanisms, MS Office, and digital photos.

Work in a Microsoft data center environment.

Familiar with telecom engineering designs specific to enterprise data centers.

Requirements

3–10+ years of deployment and/or break‑fix experience in a data center.

Extensive experience landing fully populated GPU or network racks.

Strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling technologies, including copper, fiber (SM, MM, MPO), routing, dressing, and connectors.

Experience handling and installing optical modules such as SFPs and QSFP connectors.

Experience scoping and cleaning fibers (SC, LC, MPO).

Experience racking and stacking equipment within existing racks.

Experience patching fiber and copper cables.

Proven experience leading teams.

Willingness to travel as required.

Experience with DC power and DC powered equipment.

Strong communication skills and ability to document progress using tracking mechanisms, MS Office, and digital photos.

Experience working in a Microsoft data center environment.

Familiarity with telecom engineering designs specific to enterprise data centers.

Preferred Certifications

CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience

CompTIA Server+ or equivalent experience

CCENT or equivalent experience

Windows OS experience

CCNA certification preferred

MCP/MSCE certification preferred

Scripting experience preferred – PowerShell, Python, Bash

Pay Pay range: $33.00 – $49.50 per hour.

Workplace Type Fully onsite position in Mount Pleasant, WI.
