Job Description
The Vendor Technician will support and take direction from the Project Engineers responsible for executing projects. The role focuses on processing vendor drawings and documents through the document control system and ensuring they circulate to the relevant parties for review and comment. The Technician is responsible for tracking, expediting, consolidating, and returning comments to vendors for revision, and may also assist with inputting project documents into a project database system.
Responsibilities
Track, log, print, and distribute project drawings and documents via the document control system and project database.
Track, expedite, and consolidate drawing comments from each project team member, AE, Customer, and other stakeholders.
Consolidate drawing comments from various disciplines and work with PEs to incorporate changes into drawings returned to vendors for revision.
Work on multiple projects to support Project Engineering.
Act as an extension of the Project Engineers, being deeply involved in the coordination and dissemination of supplier information and drawings.
Communicate constantly with team members and maintain strong communication skills.
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in document control, vendor document management, or a related technical project support role.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (2D and 3D) and interact with associated models.
Working knowledge of drafting concepts and technical document standards.
Experience using document control systems and/or project database platforms for uploading, tracking, and distributing documents.
Strong ability to collect, log, track, and distribute vendor drawings and documents.
Basic experience tracking and expediting comments from internal teams, A/E firms, and customers.
Ability to identify and filter out superfluous or non‑essential comments, returning only relevant, actionable feedback to vendors.
Strong communication skills for coordinating with Project Engineers and project team members.
Ability to manage and support multiple projects simultaneously.
High attention to detail and organization.
Experience consolidating cross‑discipline drawing comments for Project Engineer review.
Familiarity with engineering terminology and vendor submittal processes.
