The Molecular Biology technician will support ongoing research projects within Dr. Gaye’s lab in the Department of Integrative Genomics and Epidemiology at Meharry Medical College.
This lab investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic diseases, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders using genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic approaches.
Assist in cellular and molecular biology experiments, including but not limited to DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, genotyping, immunohistochemistry, and confocal microscopy.
Contribute to cutting‑edge research in functional genomics and multi‑omics while gaining hands‑on experience in state‑of‑the‑art techniques.
Liaise with the Principal Investigator and junior researchers to conduct molecular biology experiments.
Publish research findings (contribute to writing and submitting manuscripts for publication).
Maintain accurate records of experiments and data in lab notebooks and electronic databases.
Assist with training new students and junior researchers in laboratory techniques.
Maintain lab inventory and order reagents, chemicals, and consumables as needed.
