Apex Engineering Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead and grow our Municipal Services in Dickinson, ND.

Overview This senior level position involves maintaining and developing Municipal services for public and private clients. The Leader will manage and grow the Municipal services within the North Dakota market, execute short and long‑term revenue goals, monitor project budgets, recruit and hire key staff, and pursue new project and client opportunities. The Leader reports directly to the Municipal Sector Leader and will attend in‑person meetings with municipal engineers and operations personnel, promoting the company through professional organizations.

Essential Tasks and Duties

Manage all aspects of client relationships, including discussions of potential project opportunities, RFP details, and contract reviews.

Establish and maintain key strategic partnerships to effectively win work and deliver quality municipal and infrastructure design and construction services.

Collaborate with other sector leaders on pursuits and staffing.

Follow and maintain strategic plan initiatives and goals for the ND municipal sector and the company.

Mentor project engineers in contract development, project profitability, and risk management.

Participate in business development and marketing activities related to municipal services with potential new and existing clients.

Attend relevant conferences and professional seminars to advance Apex’s mission.

Coordinate and direct project pursuit efforts, including prospecting and proposing, for projects that could significantly impact sector revenue.

Participate in municipal leadership team meetings.

Hire and recruit strategic positions aligned with growth goals.

Utilize effective communication skills in public meetings and seminars.

Provide the Municipal Sector Leader with financial and progress reports on ND Municipal operations.

Keep abreast of civil engineering technical advancements in the ND Municipal market and recommend strategies.

Follow company employee handbook and safety policies.

Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner with strong attention to detail.

Work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Engage in professional organizations and community leadership programs.

Travel and out‑of‑town stays may be required.

Position may require more than 40‑hour work weeks.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 10+ years of municipal engineering experience and at least 7 years of project management experience, largely within ND.

Licensed engineer in the State of ND.

Experience with municipal engineering, construction, public works/utilities in ND and with public agencies.

Experience developing business and managing personnel in the consulting engineering industry preferred.

Active membership in relevant professional organizations beneficial.

Proficiency with Microsoft Windows/Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Valid driver’s license required or ability to obtain one.

Physical Requirements

Operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.

Articulate verbal and written communications clearly.

Lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.

Stand and walk for prolonged periods as required.

Work required and scheduled hours.

Base Salary Pay Range $125k - $175k (Actual base pay is dependent on factors such as experience, education, licensure, job location, and internal equity.)
