Payroll Specialist
A. O. Smith Corporation, a global leader in water heating and treatment solutions, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to coordinate full-cycle payroll for employees and retirees at our Lebanon, TN location. The role supports the Time & Attendance system, ensures compliance with internal policies and federal/state regulations, and provides payroll services across corporate and site-level units.
Location : Lebanon, TN (Hybrid – onsite or remote)
Responsibilities
Prepare and process payroll for U.S. employees and retirees.
Support and collaborate with other payroll processors.
Validate and submit periodic payroll tax reporting for employees and retirees.
Assist with quarterly tax filings for U.S. business units.
Participate in testing and completing payroll system updates and related state/federal tax updates.
Provide support to corporate and site-level business units, including HR, Benefits, Finance, and Operations.
Handle payroll customer service calls, garnishment, and vendor deductions.
Prepare reports illustrating payroll expenditures, including tax payments and benefit plan disbursements.
Assist with processing and distribution of year‑end reporting, including employee W‑2s and 1099Rs.
Assist in the development, testing, and training of UKG Workforce Management (WFM) updates and enhancements.
Provide user support and training for all UKG WFM modules.
Perform other activities as needed or directed.
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
Five or more years of related payroll experience.
Expert knowledge of FLSA, DOL and other federal and state payroll regulations.
Advanced training and customer‑support skills.
Experience balancing and processing full‑cycle payroll.
Advanced knowledge of payroll tax regulation and administration.
Detail‑oriented with strong analytical skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels.
Ability to handle highly confidential information with maturity and discretion.
Team‑orientated with sound interpersonal skills.
