The VPC Supervisor position is responsible for the daily operation of the parts department, including inventory analysis, parts ordering and management, parts distribution to the various departments within the VPC, and reporting and storing of defective parts. Responsibilities
Works with other Department Supervisors to ensure proper vehicle handling procedures are followed for movement of units on the yard and the processing of units through the VPC shop
In accordance with AAR standards, monitors and confirms proper inspection of all loaded vehicles onto rail cars Facilitates training to new employees or temporary service employees regarding proper vehicle handling procedure, Standard Work Instructions and safe work practices Based on projected workload, schedules appropriate number of employees to ensure timely completion, quality, and the most efficient utilization of staffing Troubleshoots as needed to facilitate the processing of damaged units or other units requiring special attention
Provides guidance and technical support to team members on an ongoing basis regarding changing work procedures, safety precautions, etc.
Performs pre‑shift meetings before every shift Completes training classes when necessary to stay abreast on department policies and procedures Provides feedback to employees regarding performance. Prepares disciplinary notices and conducts counseling sessions with employees regarding performance deficiencies and/or failure to abide by established procedures and safe work practices
Reports to the VPC Manager regarding recurring or serious deficiencies, as they occur Maintains, confirms and approves time daily/weekly
Verifies and approves employee times in Paycom system Updates and corrects employee missing punches daily/weekly (if necessary)
Is responsible for overseeing and supporting all inspection campaigns and providing detailed tracking of staff support time to manager for submission to accounting for billing
Updates daily VPC tracking report Completes supervisor headcount report daily to verify employee attendance
Willfully performs other tasks as instructed by leadership Has the initiative to perform and make decisions without leadership (if necessary) Keeps Manager advised of any performance problems Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Required) Drive both automatic and stick shift vehicles (Required) Basic user experience in Microsoft Office (Required) Ability to work with minimal supervision (Required) Strong interpersonal skills (Required) Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and analytical skills (Required) Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constant changing priorities with enthusiasm (Required) Education & Experience
Must hold a valid Driver’s License High School Diploma/G.E.D (Required) 2 years of experience in a production environment (Required) 5 years of experience in port operations, manufacturing, automotive, vehicle processing, or logistics (Preferred) Supervisory experience (Preferred) CPR certification (Preferred) Physical Requirements
