The Label and Print Project Manager is responsible for overseeing activity around the project management, production, printing, ordering, and inventory of labels, packaging, merchandising equipment, and select printed marketing materials as needed.
The ideal candidate must be a strong team player with excellent communication skills who has the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while collaborating cross‑departmentally with internal teams.
This is an operations/project management role on the Brand team and reports to the Director of Creative Services. A key function of this role is being able to interpret the strategic needs of the Brand team and business into achievable projects, budgets, and results; maintaining high standards of output, clear communication, and adherence to strict timelines.
Essential Functions Label and Packaging Oversight This role is responsible for ensuring the compliance, timely design and file release, printing, quality, and inventory of product labels and packaging. It handles all label production for owned brands as well as for private label customers.
Project Kickoff
Gather data and assets from Sr. Product Marketing Manager, QC, Sourcing, Purchasing
Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to establish overall timeline and project milestones, understanding internal processes and SOPs
Write a comprehensive creative brief and kickoff projects with Creative Services Director to ensure design team is fully briefed on project scope
Communicate with suppliers, when necessary, to confirm product or specification details
Project Review & Management
Review all labels for FDA, CFIA, Marketing and QC compliance per established guidelines and regulations
Communicate edits or changes in project scope to Creative Services team
Update project creative brief as needed
Monitor project timelines in conjunction with Creative Services team and cross‑functional teams
Private label items: manage communication with external customers and producers to route reviews, changes, asset collection, timing, as well as other important information with internal and external stakeholders.
Production & Inventory Management
Coordinate file releases and printing with external printers, factories, etc.
Ensure proofing and quality for all printed labels and packaging
Review for content and route proofs for review by Creative Services Director and communicate approvals or changes.
Create label and packaging production manuals for use by QC team and suppliers.
Manage inventory and reprints with internal and external partners
Print & Production Responsibilities – Marketing and Merchandising Equipment
Manage post‑design approval print production for marketing and merchandising needs. Including, but not limited to: notebooks, calendars, signage, shelf talkers, stickers, coupon booklets, cardboard and permanent in‑store displays.
Coordinate with Marketing Project Manager on project completion and delivery details
Develop relationships with current vendors as well as research new vendors for more competitive pricing and quality.
Quote projects and obtain required cost approvals, issue POs and track projects through vendor approvals, proof approvals, shipping, and delivery.
As required, work with transportation and logistics teams to organize pick‑up and delivery of items.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field
PMP Certification preferred but not required
Print production project management experience at an agency or as part of an in‑house team is required. Preferably 3‑4 years of experience
Strong attention to detail and ability to stay on track and on budget
Experience working with a project management platform (preferably Wrike)
Ability to multi‑task, working on a variety of projects with different timelines and priorities
Experience working closely with creative, compliance and logistic teams
Calm, friendly demeanour
A customer‑first approach to service; this role liaises with our sales team, customers, factories, and printers
Additional Information This role is based in New York City and works from our NY office 3 days per week and from home 2 days per week.
