Responsible for the efficient organization and operation of scheduling for all patient procedures and services. Oversees the scheduling function and collaborates with the manager/advisor to develop, monitor and maintain systems pertaining to all aspects of the scheduling and billing processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Schedules patients for procedures; post‑operative appointments and preparation instructions, follow‑up and wait‑list process.
Notifies patients of scheduled procedures.
Ensures all communications are timely and provide complete details of procedure, location, and time. Provides patients with information pertaining to surgery or procedure.
Maintains multiple applications for scheduling of procedures and collection of patient data.
Schedules procedure, medical staff & clinical resources.
Completes accurate & timely journal entries.
Collaborates with both internal & external partners to obtain resources.
Maintains physician &/or surgeon’s schedule.
Registers patient & ensures demographic data is entered accurately.
Communicates schedules on a daily basis. Reviews with advisor/manager. Updates staff with revisions. Posts schedules.
Acts as liaison to internal departments and external resources and agencies.
Actively provides ongoing training of schedulers in collaboration with manager/advisor.
Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Graduate
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a medical environment. Previous experience in a leadership position.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Strong communication and leadership skills with exceptional patient relation and customer service skills.
Familiarity with computer systems and data entry.
Windows knowledge.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and customer‑service driven/focused.
In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.
Pay Range $23.73 - $31.94
