We are looking for a Medically Tailored Meal Coordinator who will be responsible for the coordination of the day‑to‑day operation of Meals on Wheels home delivery and shipping services for assigned contracts, including preparing meals to be delivered or shipped according to contract requirements; recruitment, supervision, and training of volunteers; customer service to program participants and partnerships and contracts.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Coordinate the safe and efficient provision of Meals on Wheels home delivery and shipping services in compliance with the Meals on Wheels People Food Service Manual and Health Department regulations.
Ensure all meal deliveries to program participants meet contract requirements and quality standards.
Drive a refrigerated van to fulfill delivery routes.
Assist with recruiting, screening, registering, training, and recognizing volunteers.
Provide outstanding customer service to program participants.
Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned contracts, partners, and stakeholders.
Support outreach efforts for the Medically Tailored Meals (MTM) program.
Implement and refine strategies to support the development of new services.
Safeguard and properly maintain Meals on Wheels People property, vehicles, and inventories.
Assist the Southwest Center with general home delivery operations as needed.
Participate in in‑service trainings and attend required meetings.
Contribute to special projects aligned with the Strategic Plan.
Actively support and promote the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Knowledge
High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate certification or two years of work experience in, Gerontology, Management, Social Work, Community Nutrition, or related field preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of food service standards.
Current Food Handler's card or ability to obtain within two weeks of hire.
Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Skills, Abilities & Experience
Proven experience effectively engaging and retaining volunteers
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Experience working in software platforms and ability to learn and manage data in new systems.
Proven ability to effectively engage and manage a team of employees or volunteers.
Excellent organizational, record‑keeping, time management, and multi‑tasking skills, including the ability to set priorities and be flexible to last‑minute changes.
Skill and motivation to work with a multicultural and socially diverse population with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations, including aging, minority, low‑income, and persons with disabilities.
Language proficiency in English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian, or African languages is highly valued. Successfully passing a fluency exam in any of these languages qualifies candidates for an extra $1 per hour pay rate.
Ability to repetitively move 25 lbs; routinely moves cooler and cooler bags from one location to another and from various heights in preparation for and for the completion of meal delivery; ability to ascend stairs and move around on city sidewalks
Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and transportation required.
Willing to work extended hours to support special activities and other deadlines.
Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
Fast‑paced, with significant people interaction.
May be required to move up to 40 lbs.
Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stooping to pack meals.
Ability to operate general office equipment.
Travel around the Portland, Vancouver, and other assigned service areas.
Must successfully pass Meals on Wheels People pre‑employment screening, including drug testing and a criminal background check.
