Marissa Gaigalas, Associate Director for First Generation and Military‑Affiliated. Responsibilities: Maintain electronic records including files on Box and databases of first‑gen students and alumni. The student database tracks outreach efforts, workshop attendance, scholarship eligibility, faculty‑mentor meetings, retention, etc. Conduct ongoing outreach and relationship building with all first‑generation students related to Cardinal First. Assist with planning and implementation of Cardinal First cohort workshops, including communications, RSVPs, food and paper produce ordering, logistics (room set‑up, name‑tag table set‑up), clean‑up, and attendance monitoring. Mentor first‑gen students in assigned cohort(s) through one‑on‑one meetings each semester. Assist with ambassador selection and development for Cardinal First Student Leadership Team. Manage Cardinal First social media channels, create content, and implement strategy. Support all first‑gen related initiatives, including Cardinal First cohort workshops, First‑gen Academic Groups, First‑gen Celebration Week, and special initiatives. Assist with assessment and data collection; price, order, and distribute Cardinal First planner/calendars, t‑shirts, water bottles, pens, etc. Represent the Office of First‑Gen Programs at Admission Visit Days, campus presentations, and committees. Assist the First‑Gen Staff and the other Graduate Assistant as needed. Perform miscellaneous duties to improve the first‑gen student experience and outcomes. Qualifications: Strong communication skills—effective written and verbal communication with a diverse range of students, staff, and stakeholders. Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in event planning, data management, and communications. Project management ability—manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, including scheduling, event registration, food ordering, and resource coordination. Event planning experience, focusing on student engagement and logistical coordination. Relationship‑building skills—develop and maintain positive relationships with first‑generation students, faculty, staff, and external partners. Commitment to quality and a strong work ethic, delivering high‑quality outcomes. Mission‑driven—passionate about supporting first‑generation college students through education, engagement, and advocacy. Problem‑solving abilities—anticipate challenges, offer creative solutions, and adapt to evolving needs. Time‑management skills—prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced setting. Experience with social media and digital tools—proficiency in using social media platforms, digital communication tools, and event management software to promote programs and engage students.
