You'll be responsible for sourcing and purchasing steel materials while ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality standards are met. Key Responsibilities
Source and evaluate suppliers of steel materials to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to achieve optimal purchasing terms.
Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and pricing fluctuations in steel.
Manage inventory levels and coordinate with logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Perform cost analysis to assess the total cost of ownership for purchasing decisions.
Oversee vendor management to maintain strong relationships and resolve any issues that arise.
Utilize Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to forecast needs and streamline procurement processes.
Qualifications
Must have - 3+ years proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar role within the steel industry.
Must have - Experience with market research and vendor management practices.
Nice to have - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Nice to have - Knowledge of DOT regulations related to procurement and transportation of materials.
