Position Summary & Responsibilities The position (K046348)

COMPLIANCE INSPECTIONS, REPORTS, AND FOLLOW‑UP: Performs inspections and evaluations of Class I, Class II, MACT, and B sources as assigned in annual Work Plan to determine compliance with federal and state regulations. Conducts inspections of Open Burn sites and analyzes/issues Open Burn site authorizations when appropriate. Provide Method 9 (opacity) oversight and occasionally samples, monitors and conducts air tests (RATAs). Compiles and analyzes inspection findings and monitoring records to interpret and document compliance status. Inspection report documentation is conducted in accord with established work plan protocols and contains detailed narratives, photographic evidence, analytical results, and related information verifying compliance determinations. Follow‑ups compliance issues by tracking and monitoring status of corrective actions implemented and determines when to refer to the District Environment Administrator (DEA) for issuance of Letters of Warning. As required, serves as a witness in administrative hearings or enforcement proceedings.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

COMPLAINT INVESTIGATIONS: Conducts investigation of citizen complaints regarding air emission sources. Compiles, analyzes, and interprets information collected during complaint investigations and prepares and submits investigation reports in accordance with the approved BEFS/BOA Work Plan. Provide appropriate follow‑up to ensure correction of any violations of federal or state regulations.

Qualifications Education

High School, GED

Licensing & Certification

Valid Driver’s License – Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver’s license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in an environmental field and/or program. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes

Proofreading, editing, attention to detail

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Industrial background or experience

Experience in preparing and writing inspection reports and technical correspondence
