About the Role This is a
lead export operations role
responsible for overseeing
air and ocean export activity
out of the Charlotte market. You’ll act as the primary point of responsibility for export execution—handling shipments end‑to‑end while setting the standard for accuracy, communication, and service delivery.
The role suits a senior export specialist who enjoys autonomy, problem‑solving, and being the go‑to person within the export function. You’ll manage complex shipments, support customers directly, and work closely with internal teams and global partners to ensure smooth, compliant movements across international trade lanes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day‑to‑day air and ocean export operations from booking through final departure and delivery
Coordinate shipments with airlines, steamship lines, overseas agents, and ground handlers
Prepare and review export documentation including HAWBs, MAWBs, AES filings, commercial invoices, and packing lists
Serve as the main escalation point for export‑related issues, delays, or exceptions
Provide proactive shipment updates and maintain strong client communication
Ensure full compliance with export regulations and internal operating procedures
Maintain accurate shipment records and data integrity within the TMS
Support continuous improvement of export processes and operational workflows
Candidate Requirements
2+ years of export operations experience within a freight forwarding environment
Hands‑on experience handling
air and ocean export shipments
Strong understanding of export documentation, AES, and compliance requirements
Confident managing time‑sensitive shipments in a high‑volume setting
Comfortable acting as a lead or senior point of contact within operations
Experience with CargoWise or similar forwarding systems preferred
Based in or able to commute to
Charlotte, NC
