Ocean Export Coordinator – Bensenville, Illinois – Hybrid
The Ocean Export Coordinator is responsible for managing and executing day‑to‑day ocean freight export activities, including preparing documentation, coordinating with carriers and customers, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing exceptional customer service throughout the shipping process.
Base Pay Range $65,000.00/yr – $65,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities
Coordinate full‑cycle ocean export shipments, including booking cargo, arranging pickups, and tracking freight from origin to destination.
Prepare and review all required export documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, HBL/MBL, AES filings, certificates, and other compliance‑related documents.
Communicate daily with carriers, steamship lines, warehouses, truckers, and overseas agents to ensure timely and accurate movement of freight.
Monitor cargo status and proactively inform customers and internal teams of any delays, exceptions, or needed updates.
Ensure all shipments comply with U.S. export regulations, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
Create and update shipment files in the company’s TMS, ensuring accuracy in billing, cost entry, and documentation storage.
Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Provide rate quotes and assist with pricing inquiries as needed.
Support continuous process improvement initiatives within the export department.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in ocean export operations within a freight forwarding environment.
Strong knowledge of export procedures, Incoterms, and U.S. export regulations.
Experience filing AES through ACE.
Working knowledge of bills of lading, carrier bookings, and international documentation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with a freight forwarding TMS (CargoWise preferred, but not required).
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Must be able to work a hybrid schedule (in‑office + remote).
