THE OPPORTUNITY The Individual Giving Manager will partner with organizational leadership and the development team to create and implement a donor strategy that effectively moves existing and prospective individual donors, families, and family foundations from identification to solicitation and stewardship. They will be experienced in cultivating and managing relationships with qualified donors that lead to increased and consistent revenue for the organization. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, have a full understanding of the trends impacting the fundraising industry, and possess a keen eye for detail. The position will report to the Senior Director of Individual Giving and will supervise the Individual Giving Coordinator.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deepen and expand the organization’s $2M+ individual giving program and donor base (annual fund and major gifts) in partnership with the Senior Director of Individual Giving.
Increase the individual giving team’s prospecting capacity and pipeline through research, donor qualification and segmentation, and a strong moves management process.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with the Program and Executive Teams to support the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of key funders.
Support senior leadership to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors by drafting emails, preparing meeting plans, and managing senior staff expectations.
Manage a portfolio of top donors and partners with the goal of building multi‑year, comprehensive partnerships that include financial, programmatic, and technical support.
Oversee annual appeals, including direct mail and digital campaigns, in partnership with Development and Brand Teams and consultants.
Manage the cultivation and stewardship strategy for the Young Professionals Committee, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall growth plan.
Support the Development Team to execute the fundraising strategy for the Spring benefit, especially around engaging individual donors in event giving.
Work with the Events Manager to plan and implement individual giving‑focused events, such as cooking classes, dinners, small‑scale fundraisers, and other cultivation events.
Manage and mentor an Individual Giving Coordinator to provide critical support to the individual giving portfolio of work.

At least 4 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, preferably working with individual donors.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and ability to design and execute complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to confidently pitch and present to high‑net‑worth donors and senior staff at family foundations.
Strong people management skills with proven ability to both lead and inspire teams to meet ambitious goals.
Ability to successfully set priorities, with keen analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills that support sound decision making.
Ability and experience with CRM tools. Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
Thrives in a fast‑paced and energetic team atmosphere. Successful team members are self‑directed, with effective time management, organizational skills, and ability to simultaneously manage several priorities and team members.
COMPENSATION This is a full‑time position. The salary range is $75,000‑80,000, commensurate with experience. Hot Bread Kitchen’s comprehensive benefits package includes health/vision/dental insurance (eligible from day one), 401k contributions, paid office closure days (including holidays and staff appreciation days, and a one‑week holiday break at the end of the year), flexible and generous vacation and sick time, paid parental leave, and a sabbatical program (after 5 years of service). LOCATION AND HOURS This is a hybrid role requiring regular in‑person presence at our Chelsea Market office for stakeholder engagement, with flexibility to travel to community‑based locations across NYC. Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 9 am–5 pm, with occasional evening hours as needed.
