Position Title: Development Manager (1.0 FTE)
Job Description: The Development Manager is responsible for implementing the annual development strategy for Karen L. Charles Threads Dance Project in collaboration with the Managing Director and Artistic/Executive Director. The Development Manager is responsible for identifying and securing grant opportunities along with managing the agency's grant portfolio. Additionally, the Development Manager is responsible for identifying, securing, and managing the agency's individual donor relationships and implementing the annual individual donor development plan.
Responsibilities
Implement fundraising goals to include general operating donations, individual giving, event sponsorships, foundation grants, government contracts, and donated in-kind professional services.
Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate & foundation and individual donors.
Research, write, secure, and manage grants from corporate, foundation, and government funders.
In collaboration with MD, develop and grow the agency’s individual donor base by cultivating relationships and moving donors through the development pipeline.
In collaboration with MD, develop and grow the agency’s corporate and foundation donor base by successfully prospecting and receiving funds.
Develop fundraising-focused marketing materials and copy in collaboration with Threads’ staff.
Manage all Threads fundraising events/appeals.
Manage donor database system (events, donation tracking & acknowledgment).
Education
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent in dance, arts management, or non-profit management.
Understanding of concert dance and non-profit funding is a plus.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in development for a non-profit organization
Demonstrable skills and experience in grant writing, donor relationships, and managing special events
High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to write clearly, persuasively, and effectively
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and have a thorough understanding of strategic development
Experience working with Senior Level executives and Boards of Directors in a non-profit environment
Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new accounts
Strong partnership-building and event-planning skills
Proficiency with various computer systems (i.e. email, word documents, spreadsheets, etc.)
Knowledge of NEONCRM or similar donor management system
Strong time management skills. Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects at once.
Reports to: Managing Director
Compensation: $45,000-49,000/ annually, w/benefits
