What You Will Be Doing
Lead, direct, and mentor design staff on transportation projects; develop plans for horizontal/vertical geometry, cross sections, earthwork modeling, and 3D roadway modeling.
Provide senior‑level technical oversight for design decisions.
Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual.
Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, and proposal preparation, including negotiations.
Review project scope after award to develop work sequences, schedules, budgets, staffing, subcontractor involvement, and progress billing.
Attend on‑site and off‑site client meetings and resolve issues to obtain approvals.
Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, environmental studies, and designs for projects.
Evaluate the need for design changes and make appropriate recommendations.
Submit documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtain permits when required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Tollway, or similar State DOT and/or local government agencies on highway design projects.
Self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a project team.
Working knowledge of roadway design software (e.g., Open Roads, Open Roads Designer).
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of virtual collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Teams.
Proven leadership, communication, collaboration, mentoring, and client liaison skills.
Compensation:
$119,400 – $156,975 per year (IL location). Salary range disclosed in compliance with pay transparency laws.
