Biohabitats is seeking an ecologically focused Geospatial Analyst to join our Southern Rocky Mountain Bioregion team in Denver, CO.
The Geospatial Analyst will be responsible for data collection, management, map creation, and spatial analyses for a wide variety of project types and scales, including watershed and ecological assessments, wetland delineation, restoration planning, climate resiliency, federal/state environmental permitting, and integrated water strategies.
Role and Responsibilities
Generate, manage, maintain, and conduct quality control of data that informs a wide variety of environmental and ecological projects.
Develop visually appealing, legible, and informative maps to communicate natural resource assessments and project design.
Create interactive, online, and cloud-based (ArcGIS Online) web maps and field forms for a broad suite of implementation needs, including internal field work, client communication, community engagement, and public interaction.
Perform ETL data management of both spatial and tabular data to improve workflow efficiency.
Automate mapping and data management processes, including streamlining existing data management tasks.
Conduct natural resources and watershed inventories and field assessments.
Design and execute analyses using ModelBuilder and Python to streamline complex spatial analysis tasks.
Required Skills, Experience, and Knowledge
At least one year of experience working in a consulting firm.
Foundational knowledge of GIS and spatial data principles and standards.
Extensive knowledge and experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Field Maps, and ArcGIS Survey123.
Ability to collect GIS requirements from clients, communicate actionable solutions, and create data management workflows to increase efficiency.
Environmental, social, or ecological data collection and management experience.
Experience with geospatial modeling, landscape ecology/biodiversity metrics, and ecosystem service quantification.
Automation and scripting experience using Python to streamline repetitive workflows.
Ability to self-manage and work both independently and in a collaborative, team environment.
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Knowledge
Experience with CAD software, especially AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and transfer data between CAD and GIS.
Experience using the Adobe suite of graphic tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) to produce high-quality cartographic products.
Experience with remote sensing and image analysis, such as image processing, classification, and data extraction.
Experience with site-scale projects in Colorado or New Mexico.
Experience communicating in public outreach and stakeholder workshops.
Ability to travel for field work and/or workshops in multiple states.
Education Bachelor's or master's degree in Geospatial Science, Geography, or a related field. A master's degree with experience in applications for environmental science or ecology is preferred.
Experience 4-8 years of relevant experience as a Geospatial Analyst.
Salary $75,000.00 - $88,000.00 annually, commensurate with relevant experience.
Location Denver, CO. Biohabitats provides a flexible, hybrid work environment. During the onboarding period, new team members are expected to spend several days each week in our bioregional office. They can then transition to fewer office days per week, with flexibility to adjust based on fieldwork and travel.
