We’re growing fast while expanding career opportunities across our donation centers. As a Phlebotomist 1 you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest production standards, ensuring donor safety, and upholding our company values.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations (FDA SCCPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP).
Maintain a high level of customer service and a positive donor experience in line with company values and culture.
Keep work area clean and professional.
Verify donor identification and maintain donor confidentiality per SOPs.
Set up and prepare all equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedures.
Label and ensure each unit and sample is labeled accurately.
Execute venipunctures and plasma collections, maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, including responding to machine alarms, donor adverse events, and documenting exceptions.
Monitor donor conditions, employing techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality.
Maintain proper donor‑to‑product ratios.
Disconnect donors and manage disposal of biohazard waste and contaminated equipment following safety protocols, including cleaning spills.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly calibration/maintenance of automated plasmapheresis machines and replace equipment as needed.
Maintain accurate documentation of all necessary records, including Plasmapheresis Machine Logs.
Report all unsafe situations and conditions to management.
Stock and replenish inventory on plasma carts.
Drive training efficiencies to ensure timeliness and compliance.
Troubleshoot machine alarms/alerts and perform routine QCs (daily/monthly) on equipment.
Perform other job‑related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
State‑required certification or licensing as applicable.
Minimum 3 months experience in a medical or health‑care environment, or equivalent education and experience.
Completed documentation of training appropriate for duties prior to independent performance.
Strong customer‑service skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal protocol.
Basic computer knowledge and skills.
Accurate documentation skills.
Ability to read and interpret safety regulations and operating instructions.
Function effectively in a fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Demonstrated consistency and reliability (good attendance, punctuality, flexibility).
Willingness to work daytime, evening, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
Ability to perform venipuncture.
Effective communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to 35 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
Ability to utilize all required PPE.
Occupational exposure to blood‑borne pathogens.
Ability to view video display terminal
Must stay within specified temperature range per standard procedures.
Perform precise tasks requiring repetitive small motor skills.
Use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
