About The Department
1 East is a locked 36-bed secured unit that provides care for patients 18 years and older. Services are offered to those with life‑threatening and/or severely incapacitating symptoms and a potential for harm to self or others. Patients are admitted through the Psychiatric Access department in the Emergency Department at THAA. Face‑to‑face assessments are usually required; in some cases transfers or direct admissions from other locations may occur.

Status Full‑time
Pay Range $34.77 – $48.32 (depends on experience/licensure date)
Required Education and Licensure
Graduated from an accredited nursing program.
Must have a BSN degree or agree in writing to obtain a BSN within five (5) years of hire or transfer to an RN role.
Current Michigan Nursing License.
BLS certification.
Required Skills and Abilities Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and age‑specific needs. Interpersonal skills to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Critical thinking skills to perform the principal duties of the position. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care.
What you will do
View patients holistically; consider physical, psychosocial, emotional, age‑specific, cultural and spiritual factors. Demonstrate appropriate assessment skills for identified patient populations.
Use critical thinking to gather and analyze patient information and respond to patient situations.
Develop, implement, evaluate and revise individualized care plans using evidence‑based interventions and standards of care. Plan across the continuum considering patient and family preferences.
Identify patient and family education needs. Create and implement teaching plans using evidence‑based practice and teach‑back methodology. Identify necessary resources to ensure readiness for discharge.
Create a positive patient experience environment.
Accurately document in the EMR and communicate patient status, priority goals and interventions verbally and in writing during rounds, handoffs and consultations.
Maintain good rapport with colleagues, resolve conflicts constructively, and participate in problem‑solving.
