The Department of Psychology and Philosophy in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sam Houston State University invites applications to fill two open-rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) tenure-track positions in its APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology to begin in the Fall 2025 semester. The program has maintained a strong emphasis on forensic psychology/training since its inception, which has recently expanded to include a general emphasis option for students with broader interests. Applicants must have expertise in clinical psychology, a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited clinical, counseling, or school psychology program, and must be eligible for licensure in the State of Texas (applicants who are ABD will be considered, but the doctoral degree must be conferred by the start date of the position). The department seeks candidates with scholarly and/or clinical expertise in clinical psychology. The specific area of research is open. Particular curricular and research needs include empirically supported treatments for children, adolescents, and adults; child and adolescent assessment; forensic psychology; multicultural psychology; experimental design; biological bases of behavior; and clinical supervision. Duties will include conducting and supervising research, supervising theses and dissertations, supervising clinical practica, and teaching in the graduate (master’s and doctoral) and undergraduate programs in the department. These positions within the doctoral program are associated with a 2-2 workload. Candidates with demonstrated potential for extramural funding are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be committed to a student-centered approach and have a passion for teaching and mentoring all students at SHSU. Please feel free to contact the search Chair, Dr. Craig Henderson, at ceh003@shsu.edu or 936-294-3601 if you have any questions about the position.
