Students earning one of these 3 degrees are eligible to apply for a GA position in the department: MS in Athletic Training, MS in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport and Human Performance, MS in Sport Management. Graduate Research Assistantship Details

Work location: Huntsville, TX on SHSU’s main campus, labs in the Lee Drain Building. Schedule: up to 20 hours per week, typically Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM‑5:00 PM; early morning or late evening hours possible. Eligibility: must be accepted to the program and currently enrolled in a graduate degree seeking program (MS in Athletic Training, Kinesiology: Sport and Human Performance, or Sport Management). Assistantship opportunities: (1) faculty research assistant, (2) teaching assistant (activity classes in weight training or sport skills), or (3) combo research and teaching (exercise physiology lab). Specify preferred type in your letter of intent. Summer employment may be available. Assistantships are renewable per semester based on performance and professionalism; they do not guarantee future assistantships. General Skills and Qualifications

Self‑motivation and high level of responsibility to complete tasks timely without direct supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Background in individual and sport skills for teaching activity classes. Developed research skills. Ability to learn new software and research techniques. Flexibility to adjust to new work requirements. Maintain good academic standing as defined by the SHSU Graduate and Professional Catalog. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet, electronic media). Faculty Research Graduate Assistantship Responsibilities

Coordination of laboratory daily schedule. Organization and maintenance of laboratory materials. Assisting in the collection and analysis of data. Recruitment of subjects for current research projects. Perform literature searches and reviews. Handle confidential and sensitive data with integrity. Laboratory equipment and training: Biodex, COSMED Metabolic Cart, T190 treadmill, DEXA, SECA, wet lab materials, Monark cycle ergometer, motion capture, EMG, virtual reality. Teaching Graduate Assistant Responsibilities

Instruction of activity courses (basketball/soccer, softball volleyball, weight training, bowling, racquet sports, dance, etc.). Instruction of KINE 3173: Exercise Physiology Lab for undergraduate students. Combination of Teaching/Research Graduate Assistant Responsibilities
