Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is an active participant in the healthcare team, providing direct and indirect care to patients, families, and legal guardians. The LPN collaborates as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, contributing to individual treatment plans by helping develop, implement, and document goals and interventions based on patient strengths and psychiatric issues. The duties and responsibilities of the LPN include: Maintaining and following nursing policies and procedures aligned with current standards, facility philosophy, and operational policies. Completing health assessments, implementing treatment plans, and documenting outcomes accurately in the EHR each shift. Reviewing incident reports and recording patient incidents daily. Assisting with admissions and discharges according to facility procedures. Following physician orders as outlined in treatment plans and monitoring withdrawal symptoms using CIWA, COWS, or CINA scales. Assessing and reporting physiological and psychosocial changes in patients to the healthcare team. Referring patients to appropriate health agencies and coordinating medical services. Providing health education on topics such as health care, withdrawal management, medications, diabetes, safe sex, dual diagnosis, and nutrition, tailored to patient understanding. Observing medication procedures and making recommendations as needed. Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and reviews. Maintaining compliance with accreditation standards, including training, CEUs, and performance reviews. Utilizing de-escalation and crisis intervention skills when necessary. Delegating tasks to non-licensed staff such as BHTs or Resident Techs. Learning and efficiently using available software like Ritten and Paycom. Qualifications

The LPN must have successfully completed an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program and possess: Active LPN license in good standing. At least 2 years of general nursing experience, with a minimum of 1 year in psychiatric and/or substance abuse settings. De-escalation and crisis intervention experience (preferred). Capability or willingness to learn IV insertion and blood draw procedures. Openness to new ideas, flexibility, and ability to take directions. Valid driver's license or reliable transportation. CPR/First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. High confidentiality and strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.
