University Information UNC Greensboro is a diverse, learner‑centered public research university with 18,000 students and more than 150 undergraduate and 200 graduate study areas.

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Facilities Operations unit provides maintenance, preventive repairs, safety, regulatory compliance, project management, and renovations for over 100 campus buildings.

Position Summary The Planner/Scheduler enhances the University’s preventive maintenance program by planning, coordinating, and scheduling maintenance activities for the Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical, Plumbing, and Steam trades. The role requires technical competence in at least one MEP trade and knowledge of how utility systems are interconnected. Responsibilities include collaborating with trade shops, troubleshooting, inspections, project management for small projects ($ Key Responsibilities

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance Planning

– Develop, schedule, and monitor maintenance activities to ensure reliability and efficiency across all campus facilities.

Lead initiatives to improve maintenance program effectiveness, analyze maintenance data, and recommend updates.

Maintain preventive maintenance programs for campus systems, equipment, and utilities; use CMMS to schedule work orders and report compliance.

Work Coordination & Scheduling

– Oversee day‑to‑day scheduling, review work orders, balance preventive, corrective, and project work, and communicate schedules to supervisors and contractors.

Compliance, Safety & Regulatory Support

– Ensure all work complies with codes and safety requirements; conduct inspections, audits, and correct deficiencies; maintain OSHA, EPA, and UNC‑G documentation.

Support specialized programs such as refrigerant management, asbestos abatement, and environmental compliance.

MRO Stores & Parts Support

– Assist with MRO parts management, inventory alignment, and liaison between maintenance and MRO stores.

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting

– Provide clear communication, reporting, and consultation with University stakeholders; prepare dashboards and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in the assigned discipline or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Valid driver’s license.

Some positions may require certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional industry certifications.

Experience managing MEP trades.
