Job Summary As a Respiratory Therapist, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. You'll be instrumental in providing a range of treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support. Every day you will apply your keen assessment skills and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and ensure calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations. Responsibilities
Administer therapy modalities including Hand held Nebulizer (HHN), HHN via metered dose inhaler (HHN/MDI), Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation (IPV), Chest Physical Therapy (CPT), and Pentamidine therapy. Medication administration may be included during these therapy modalities.
Administer medical gas therapy including oxygen and Helium‑Oxygen Therapy (HeO2).
Perform ventilation therapies, including maintenance and management of life support systems. Therapies include non‑invasive and invasive ventilation therapies, as well as transport of ventilator patients to diagnostic procedures.
Perform physiological monitoring and diagnostic testing including ABG puncture, bronchoscopy assistance, pulmonary function testing, bedside PFTs, metabolic monitoring, apnea monitoring, transcutaneous monitoring, capnography, pulse oximetry, and sleep apnea assessment.
Perform specialized procedures including CPR, bronchial lavage, transport, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, artificial and tracheostomy airway care, body mechanics/ambulation, and diagnostic procedures in the Pulmonary Function Lab.
Document all patient care accurately and completely in the required departmental documentation system.
Requirements
Completion of respiratory care degree program upon hire.
Respiratory Care Practitioner certification in TX upon hire.
Registered Respiratory Therapist certification upon hire.
Basic Life Support - CPR within 14 days of hire.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months of hire.
Location Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, a campus known for excellence in research and clinical care, featuring the new McNair Campus designed around evidence‑based practices for patient safety.
Pay Range $29.44 - $43.79 /hour
